Approximately 5 minutes walk from the house on the way to the beach is a small bridge over Mateille - this seems to a favourite spot for fishermen of all ages! We have seen families spend most of the day here fishing, picnicing and swimming.

Of course you could get really busy and just pass the day as many French families seem to do .... enjoy the sunny morning walk to the patisserie and return for breakfast of croissants and coffee .... then possibly food shop locally or in Gruissan or Narbonne .... enjoy the sun on the terrace for a while before preparing a barbeque lunch of fresh local sardines (2 euros per kilo), bread and salad, washed down with a wonderful crisp cold bottle or two of local wine .... pop indoors for a siesta in the cool till early evening .... go down to the beach for a stroll or splash .... return as the evening gets cooler to shower and change .... walk up to one of the local restaurants or pizzarias .... or simply fire up the barbeque again to enjoy the local produce!!! La Clape falls under the Coteaux du Languedoc AOC. Indeed it is only one of two whites that does. The majority grape for the white is Bourboulenc giving it a real depth of flavour and benefits from a few years aging. This small area squeezed as it is between the Corbieres and the Coteaux main producers still manages to make some much sought after wines. Full bodied reds, slightly more costly whites and some light and enjoyable rosé wines.
