Our little house at Maisons du Rivage Bleu, Les Ayguades, Gruissan, Aude.

Part of the terrace - BBQ is to left - picture taken in April

Our house has a SE facing patio at the front, which is entered through a white picket gate. There is a surrounding hedge of Oleander shrubs which make the area quite sheltered and secluded.

The patio has a selection of outdoor furniture and sun loungers. There is also a large sun umbrella, outside hose pipe and cold shower (for freshening up the patio and yourself!!) and a concrete BBQ with chimney.

Patio doors open into the inside dining area with an extendable circular table with matching chairs and sideboard.

Beyond the dining area is the original ground floor bedroom which has been opened out to make a more flexible layout.  There is a bed settee, coffee table and TV-DVD, which also plays CDs.  A set-top receiver box connected to a satellite dish enables quite a few channels to be viewed. There is also a set of powered loudspeakers for an ipod/mp3 player. This area can be curtained off to give privacy to anyone using the bed settee.

The kitchen area has two electric cooking rings with stainless steel worktop and basin with a normal size fridge and storage cupboard underneath. A washing machine is to the right of this unit. A much larger fridge is situated at the foot of the stairs. There is also an electric kettle, small oven/grill, toaster and coffee machine.

The cupboards and sideboard house ample cutlery, crockery, glasses, pots & pans, cooking utensils and the most important salad spinner!

The bathroom has w.c., handbasin and shower which has good pressure and plenty of hot water.  There is a mirrored storage cabinet with shaving socket and wall shelving for additional storage.

Stairs lead up to the mezzanine bedroom which has been enlarged from its original size. There is a double bed, two bedside chest of drawers with table lamps and a contemporary wardrobe. There are also two fold-up single beds - ideally suited for children because the obvious place to position them has restricted headroom.

Other items of equipment are a vacuum cleaner, iron and ironing board and two heaters - maybe required if using the house during the winter.  All patio doors and windows on the ground floor are fitted with venetian blinds.

Nearby is our allocated parking space. The house is pleasantly tucked away from this area so we do not have the hustle and bustle of cars being parked.

A pleasant short walk from the house is firstly the lagoon and then the Mediterannean with miles of sandy beach where you can swim, walk or sunbathe to your hearts content.
